In 1947 AB Atomenergi was formed to develop, design, construct and operate nuclear power installations in Sweden. The company is under the supervision of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry and is owned by the state, municipal and private power utilities, and industrial companies.
A lot has happened in the 70 years that have passed since AB Atomenergi was formed. Then, in 1947, the task was to develop, build and run nuclear power facilities in Sweden. The research reactors no longer operate, and have been or are undergoing decommissioning. Studsvik is focusing on retaining its position as leading supplier of services to the international nuclear power industry.
