Expert Meeting on the proposal for an OECD/NEA Joint Project: Studsvik Material Integrity Life Extension (SMILE) Project 23 January 2020, NEA headquarters, Boulogne-Billancourt, France

The NEA Secretariat and Studsvik Nuclear AB (Studsvik) are arranging an expert meeting to discuss further steps and foreseen participation in the Studsvik Material Integrity Life Extension (SMILE) Project.

The overall objective of the SMILE project is to provide nuclear safety organizations as well as LWR plant operators with an improved understanding of materials ageing mechanisms in support of plant ageing management,

life extension programmes and operating licence renewals. SMILE will leverage a near-unique opportunity to harvest materials and components from Swedish LWRs decommissioned after more than 40 years of operation.

Further information on the SMILE project is given under Related documents (to the right)
