Studsvik is the second largest supplier and leader in the treatment of radioactive waste in the USA.
Waste processing offerings include:
Thermal Organic Reduction (THOR)
THOR, a proprietary technology for the treatment of wet waste, has been successfully operated for more than 10 years at the Studsvik facility in Erwin, TN. THOR technology is also used to process dry waste through a process called Thermal Conversion Reformer.
Large Component
Studsvik is the largest provider of services for the processing, recycling, volume reduction, and disposal of nuclear large components in the U.S. Over the past five years, Studsvik has successfully processed, recycled, and disposed of over 12,000,000 pounds of large components at the Memphis, TN facility.
Bulk Survey For Release (BSFR)
Studsvik is the leading supplier of volumetric survey and disposal services for lightly contaminated radioactive waste materials in the U.S. BSFR allows Studsvik to survey and dispose of all types of homogeneously contaminated materials in specified industrial waste (Subtitle D) landfills.
Advanced Material Processing (AMP)
AMP is an advanced sorting and waste evaluation process. Through the application of pre-processing technologies and details waste sorting techniques, DAW and metal waste that would normally be disposed of as LLRW are now able to be disposed of through BSFR.
T-Spray
T-spray is a pumpable liquid spray drying process that allows for efficient and cost-effective volume reduction of radioactive aqueous liquids. This process volume and weight reduces aqueous liquids into stable powder.
