This position will provide day-to-day financial support, and assist in with month end close, forecast, budget and long range plan processes.  Will develop and serve as a business knowledgeable financial advisor by providing relevant and value-add financial information.  Position will prepare, review and present accurate, timely and relevant financial information; will have a sound and clear understanding of Studsvik’s operations and financial statements and systems.   

Essential Duties And Responsibilities include the following:

Develop an understanding of the company business objectives and strategy.

Assist Controller with daily inquiries and reporting matters.

Thorough working knowledge of Studsvik’s accounting policies, concepts, and practices to include compliance with US GAAP and IFRS as appropriate. 

Perform general accounting responsibilities to include preparation of journal entries and provide support for month end, quarterly and year end close obligations.

Integral role of revenue recognition of operating facilities and assisting Controller that all month end accounting activity has transacted.

Review and follow month end close checklist to ensure all tasks are delivered timely.

Review Balance Sheet entries for completeness.

Ensure reconciling items are addressed and cleared in a timely manner.

Create, maintain and review financial reports and analysis with focus on accuracy, completeness, presentation, and reasonableness which is strategically focused.

Provide guidance on how to handle complex AP transactions.

Consistently review the general ledger, Balance Sheets, and P&L’s for reasonableness.  Identify and correct items requiring reclassification.  Ensure accounting practices and/or internal controls are effective and suggest enhancements if necessary to eliminate cause of error.

Record, review, and reconcile “Inter” & “Intra” company transactions ensuring all units are in balance and resolve any out of balance issues in a timely manner.

Develop and recommend process improvements that leverage technology and maximize overall efficiency maintaining and/or strengthening internal controls.

Assist with input and data uploads for forecast into financial systems. 

Run standard reports to assist with verifying data entry and accuracy.

Responsible for monthly Cognos upload and maintenance of Cognos load files.

Assist in preparation of required schedules for Audit, Tax, and other reporting requirements.

Identify reporting metrics and requirements for internal clients and develop sound formatted executive level reporting offering value-add financial information to assist with decision making.

Develop reporting tools to assist with reporting financial status per client needs that deliver value-add financial results, while complying with internal controls and identifying major risks and opportunities.

Participate and assist with preparation of business unit operational spending targets, forecast, budgeting and long range plans including variance reporting.

Prepare and gain experience in communicating presentations to management and clients.

Preparation and first level of review of balance sheet reconciliations (including cash).

Assist in documenting operating procedures and process flow. 

Partner and ensure governmental accounting peer is aware of companywide objectives related to financial reporting to ensure all governmental reporting follow suit to company formats and deliverable timelines.

Assist management with technical research and recommend proper accounting treatment of transactions.

Perform ad-hoc analysis and testing when necessary.

Assist in maintenance of accounting system and is primary contact for establishing new accounts and financial reporting roll up.

TEAMWORK

Education and/or Experience: The level of education and/or experience needed to successfully accomplish the essential duties of this job is the following:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Accounting or Finance is required.  CPA a plus. 

Four to seven years of professional finance / accounting experience necessary.  Knowledge of basic financial and financial systems set up essential.

Must be a strategic thinker with advanced knowledge of principles and theories of accounting, able to work with minimal supervision, and act in a supportive role to the accounting staff.  Must have the ability to effectively communicate and represent the accounting group with Sr. level management.
