Studsvik has a complete package of On Site Waste Services for nuclear sector customers. Whether the driver is servicing routine operations, de-bottlenecking waste routes, supporting decommissioning contracts or supplementing existing resources and teams, Studsvik On Site Waste Services are a proven and assured means of meeting your waste management objectives.
The Studsvik service concept centres around the complete waste management lifecycle for Low Level Radioactive waste management, covering all key stages of the process from application of the Waste Management Hierarchy to Regulatory aspects to Waste Characterisation through to Ultimate Disposal:
Our services include:
These services are delivered by deploying our resources in a combination of Personnel, Procedures, Mobile equipment and Fixed Facilities tailored to meet the customer needs and specification.
Studsvik is able to mobilise experienced teams of radioactive waste management personnel to any location. These include certificated Radiation Protection Advisers, Waste Officers, Waste Treatment Engineers, Radwaste Technicians and Health Physics Monitors. We also have in-house transport specialists and Dangerous Goods Safety Advisers.
The experience of our personnel is supported by a complete system of procedures and systems for LLW management. For example, whilst we often work to customer's systems for consigning waste materials, Studsvik also has developed a complete suite of in-house procedures for waste management. Our procedures and systems cover the identification of waste, characterisation and classification, controlled release of exempt materials, packaging and consignment of waste for treatment and disposal. We are fully conversant with the conditions for acceptance of a wide range of disposal or treatment routes.
To support our customer's waste management programmes, Studsvik has a range of mobile equipment ready to utilise on site.
This is supported by our waste and contaminated plant logistics services, where we can take care of all transport and logistics activities to support our work as well as a stand alone service to customers if required.
Studsvik's On Site Waste Services are truly enhanced by the use of our network of fixed waste treatment facilities. These include authorised, full treatment premises in Europe and the United States where we can process waste materials. These cover the treatment of metals, oils, combustibles, solid dry waste, sludge's and IX resins. Through our On Site Waste Services offering, Studsvik is able to work closely with our customers to optimise the use of our treatment facilities for appropriate waste streams to reduce overall LLW liabilities and manage transport, logistics and regulatory interfaces effectively.
