The objective of the symposium is to share current practice, experiences and innovations relating to the preparations for decommissioning of nuclear facilities. Our aim is to bring together operators, regulators, decision makers, scientists, consultants, contractors and other stakeholders to exchange information and views and to explore the possibility of developing networks of experts working in relevant areas, such radiological characterisation for decommissioning.

The symposium program will include oral presentation sessions, group discussions and a poster session. It will also include the possibility of visiting:

  • the EDF site of the Superphénix fast breeder reactor at Creys-Malville, currently under decommissioning.
  • the EDF storage ICEDA for long lived intermediate level waste located at Bugey site, currently under construction.

The conference invitation, including the call for papers and a preliminary schedule for the symposium will be sent out in early May 2015.
